In the Shinto Religion there aren't Founders. The concept of the religion was derived from a mixture of Buddhism, and many elements from other Asian cultures such as China. These cultural and spiritual influences shaped the Shinto Religion.
There are 4 ancient books referred to as sacred text but no official book such as the bible. The 4 books:
"Kojiki" Record of Ancient Matters
"Shoku Nihongi" & "Nihon Shoki" Chronicles of Japan
"Rikkokushi" Six National Histories
"Jinno Shotoki" study of Japanese Politics and History
Shinto was founded in 660 BC. In the 8th century the Nihonshoki (chronicle of Japan) and the Kojiki (Record of Ancient Matters) were written to legitimize the rule of the Yamato clan making them descendants of the God's. The Yamato rulers created a unified Japan.
Shintoism has been the indigenous religion of Japan for many centuries.
